The suspect had a lengthy and very well known criminal history, this death paints a much broader picture of multiple states and courts that have failed at keeping this piece of shit off the streets. Mistakes were undoubtedly made on the officers part and for that he and his family have paid the ultimate price. It isn't fair, and it isn't just, and it is sickening that a life could be taken so easily and carelessly. This is why you see cops being aggressive in traffic stops, even to the point of having a weapon out as they approach a vehicle. Remember this next time you see a cop being cautious for their life and don't assume they are there to hurt you and use excessive force, it is because of the dangers associated with pulling over strangers.

In the job of a police officer you can go from alive and breathing to dead in 5 seconds. 5 damn seconds. So when you watch videos of a cop gunning down a suspect who has a knife, this is why.

17. I've been an officer in Texas for approx. 31 yrs and served in the military prior to 1992. The one thing I noticed at 8:05 is something I've sadly seen all too often in my career. The spasticity displayed in Officer Jarrott's right hand, tells me everything I need to know about his condition. Very little can be done at this point, to help the trooper and sustain any measurable quality of life for him or his family. I had a mild stroke in my mid to late 50s and my recovery seemingly drained any thoughts of a future my wife held with me. I am blessed in that my condition didn't have any permanent effects and I was able to return to duty within a year. Trooper Jarrott was not so blessed and paid the ultimate price. I fully support this lawsuit and hope it will provide her and her children the future they deserve. In Texas, the "100 Club" provides the initial financial support, but lacks soon after. Many families of fallen officers have to sell their homes to make ends meet. Gabriella, you now have to be the rock for your children. Carry on the commitment you and Darian pledged on your wedding day. GOD BLESS!!!
