Aymeric Jean Louis Gérard Alphonse Laporte, born May 27, 1994, is a professional soccer player who plays as a center-back for English Premier League club Manchester City and the Spanish national team.
After joining Athletic Bilbao in 2010 at the age of 16, he became the second French player to play for Bilbao, after Bixente Lizarazu. He played 220 matches for the club and scored ten goals. In January 2018 he moved to Manchester City. He was part of the team that won the first domestic treble in English soccer in 2019.
Laporte, a French native, made a total of 51 appearances for the country at junior level and was called up to the senior team but did not play. In 2021, after receiving Spanish citizenship and FIFA approval to transfer his national team from France to Spain, Laporte was called up to the Spanish squad for the UEFA Euro 2020 Championship.
