Super Falcons Set to Reclaim Their Birth Rights

The Super Falcons of Nigeria are set to reclaim their birth rights as the traditional African female soccer team, as the African Women Championship begins in South Africa. The perennial champions who have won 5 out of 6 editions of the championship lost only the last edition to Equatorial Guinea which was also the host of the last edition.

The Nigerian team may have lost the last edition by underrating their opponent; and partly because the team also had some fitness problems during the time. This time around they are set to bounce back into reckoning.

One of the things that would work in favour of the falcons is the coaching crew led by former African highest goal scorer Uche Eucharia who is highly experienced after being to the first 3 editions of the women world cup. She was also at the first edition of the African Championship held in Abeokuta in Nigeria in 1998 as the assistance coach of the team.

Uche Eucharia is assisted by another experienced former member of the falcons, Anne Agumanu who was the goal keeper during her time. With the team being handled by past players who know the areas of strength and weaknesses of the various teams, it would be easier for them to do well in South Africa and at the end emerge victorious.

The current Nigeria team is a mixture of experience and youth as some of the players were graduated from the U-20 who got the final of the female youth championship in Germany this year.

However, one area the falcons need to work harder is the area of attack; it was evident during the U-20 Championship in Germany that the team was struggling to convert the begging opportunities they had. With a highly experienced striker as the current coach, that should not be a major problem anymore.

The team is very strong in the midfield and defense: they only need to add one or two good strikers to augment he effort of the midfielders. If the team is able to hold its ground the way the U-20 and the U-17 did recently, it would be easy for them to succeed with the addition of the experienced old hands.

The falcons play their opening match against Mali on the 1st of November. The other teams in their group include the host nation South Africa and Tanzania. The only major threat to their ambition is the host team which is equally experienced though they have not won any tournament titles.

FC Barcelona Successful Season Review 2010-2011

FC Barcelona started their 2010-11 season with the threat of the special one, Jose Mourinho as he eliminated Barcelona last year from Champions League Semi Final by his unprecedented tactics. But Barca have proved their superlative class once again by winning the Double–La Liga Crown–three times in a row with two games to spare and the big Champions League Crown–twice in three years by teaching their opponent a real good football lesson. Moreover, Barca made a spectacular record of 28 matches unbeaten and 16 consecutive league wins in 2010-2011 La Liga season. Barca is now all about»Dream Team.»

La Liga

Barca was dramatically beaten 2-0 at the Camp Nou in their second match against new comer Hercules CF! It was a shock not a fact Barca proved it in their following games. They managed to win the 3rd straight La Liga Crown with two games to spare.

Series of «El Clasicos»

Five «El Clasico» in a season and four of them took place in April-May only in time range of 18 days. In recent history only in 2001-02 both Giants met four times in a season and before that when they clashed more or as equal as this season I really don’t remember.

The 1st«El Clasico» of the season took place on 29th of November. New coach of Madrid, their outstanding performance in the league before this match, tiredness of Spanish players after the world cup etc was major issues before the game. But as soon as the referee whistled to start the battle it was again the beauty of football drawn by none other than Barca players. Barca gave their fans an unforgettable, Five Star performance a 5-0 win against their eternal rival at the Camp Nou on the 111th birthday of the best club in the world. Barca tops the table, 8 points ahead of Madrid with this win and the leading position was as stable as the Everest till the end of the season.

The 2nd«El Clasico» was a 1-1 draw at Santiago Bernabeu while both Messi for the first time scored against Mourinho so did Ronaldo against Barcelona after his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu. After the match Barca was also eight points ahead of Madrid.

The 3rd«El Clasico» was in «Copa Del Ray Final» so it was a big match for both of them. Mourinho stuck to his super defensive strategy and finally he got a win and a trophy while Ronaldo scored in 102th minutes at Mestalla. Barca possessed 70% of the first half but no real effort before the goal post took place. Barca improved second half, they created chances but all went in vein and it was 0-0 after the 90 minutes. Then Ronaldo scored in 102th minute and this was the decider as Barca failed to score but they kept pushing.

The 4th «El Clasico» was in the much awaited Champions League Semi Final. First leg one was at Santiago Bernabeu. Mourinho criticized Pep Guardiola harshly when Guardiola commented on disqualifying a goal during the Copa Del Rey Final. Right after Mourinho left the press conference Guardiola replied it fast and furiously like never before as he used the «F word.» This incident added an extra spice before the battle. At the battle field we saw the reflection of Guardiola’s anger while Barca players were rushing all together towards the referee as soon as any foul committed by any Madrid player. Barcelona were playing their natural attacking game and Madrid were stuck to their defensive plan. It was 0-0 after the half time. When two teams headed to the dressing room Pinto extra goal keeper of Barca got a red card and there was a clash between the some players of both team. On the hour mark Pepe committed a foul against Dani Alves and the referee booked him a straight red card–Barca’s plan did work. But from the replay we could easily saw that it was master piece acting from Dani Alves. Mourinho also got a red card when he gave an illegal gesture to the referee. Then Barca took the advantage of 10 men and Messi scored 76th minute and he doubled it by a pure magic in 87th minute and the later was undoubtedly one of the best goals of Champions League history. After full time it was a huge advantage of 2-0 and Barca was almost through to the final.

The 5th «El Clasico» was a cruel formality as it was like more than impossible to keep Barca away from Wembley when they had 2-0 away goal advantage. It was 1-1 draw at Camp Nou. Barca scored first and Madrid equalized. Mourinho was not even in the gallery during the match. Barca was off to Wembly.

Champions League

It would be an injustice to Barca if I don’t mention the game against Arsenal. Cesc Fabregas once again played for the losing side. Arsenal had 2-1 home advantage but they failed to utilize it at the Camp Nou where they were humiliated last year by 4-1and all goals scored by the little Argentine wizard Messi. This year Messi once again made the difference, his first goal showed the world that his skill is limitless. Arsenal made an incredible record breaking the record of more than one thousand matches in the Champions League. In this match they were unable to take a single shot in the target! The score line was 3-1 and the sole goal was an own goal scored by Sergio Busquets.

Champions League Final–Obviously it is considered to be the biggest match of a season. Barca players labeled the match as their last Champions League Final of their life as Guardiola did so back in 1992 at Wembley where Barca had won their first ever Champions League Final Trophy. Sir Alex Ferguson labeled it as the «Final of the Decade.» Some said it would be «Dj vu» of 2008-09 season others said ManU got better. When the match begun first ten minutes ManU gave Barca a real good challenge but then it was again the beauty of Football at his supreme level, Manu became the bus stander once again. The game ended 3-1 and it could have been worse a lot. The game is now considered the best ever Champions League Final in terms of the class of Football by any team.

Finally, It was another successful mission of FC Barcelona. They got the Double and created few team and individual records in this season. They are now the very close to the «Dream Team» while some people have already expressed that they are the»Dream Team» or better than that! But one thing is for sure that Lionel Messi is getting closer and closer to stop repeating the question «Who is the best player of all time Pele or Maradona?»

Creating and Maintaining Environments for Young People in Football

Over the last four weeks (and having been coaching for 18 years) I have noticed some very worrying environments. It’s worrying to me as a coach, parent and independent observer having witnessed the top level academies, middle ground and grass roots and being constantly told «its getting better.»

I have seen some good examples of well-meaning people who manage safety whilst giving ownership to young people. Not easy to do. The other thing that isn’t easy to do is manage adrenaline and feelings. We all want our own children to do well. That’s a given. Whether its homework, model making, swimming or football. From the mentioned however which do people change their methods in? Which would an adult change their mindset in?

The game is passionate – Fact. People visit stadiums, watch adults, moan at refereeing decisions and complain all week if our supported teams lose. To the point of becoming almost Piers Morgan like. There is a distinct difference however. The people you shout, cheer and bemoan are indeed adults. They can cope in pressurised adult environments. The very best can even block them out and perform. It takes years of practice. Playing in the champions league for millions of pounds is one thing, playing in front of 30 people in a 5v5 astro turf court is simply another.

The two environments are not linked. They are not replicas. Children will with their imagination, mentally attempt to visit and dream of such stadium. This is all the pressure they need.

We are missing a huge trick. The street and playground we used to commentate on whilst playing and pretend to be gazza or maradona was our pressure. The next defender is pressure. The last gasp save is pressure.

Unfortunately the following is additional pressure to young people:

· Making kids play in set positions – most that have played will tell you – you don’t end up playing in the same one for very long.

· Shouting things such as «don’t mess about with it in your box, get rid, clear it, pass it, down the line» and so on. The things said from my last 4 weeks up to 25 times in one hour by one adult to 1-5 children. Confusion and pressure.

· Spectators shouting «tackle him, pass-pass-pass, well-in.» it’s been done for years I know I played but it does no good.

· A parent shouting «tackle» Is also a motivation for increased aggression. Was the child going to tackle anyway? Probably.

· The good players can’t play – they face managers of young teams going man for man, even 2 players marking them but not child led, just so the adult can win.

· I have witnessed excessive fouling by young players who instead of shake hands and pick kids up are laughing as the «tackle» has become over emphasised. Just wait until the tackling sort plays at a good level (if they manage it with no technique or skill – probably not), the tackle will become a chase as the players will dance around them and or play through them.

Do you want your child to be playing and enjoying and be good and win at 15, 16 and beyond? I’m sure the answer is yes. Then you need to stop now and think. The u7-9 age groups is the key to the following to develop them into good 16 year olds:

· Freedom to try things – 1v1 moves without fear of losing the ball, playing from the goalkeeper and dribbling anywhere on the pitch.

· Remember the 5v5 pitch is only a quarter of a full size pitch. What they do in front of their own goal they will do in the whole quarter when older. If they just clear the ball now they won’t know any different.

· Scores should not be recorded. Any leagues asking for scores for u7-14 games in my opinion are failing kids. It makes adults record them and it makes them cut development corners. It doesn’t make any sense.

· Trophies and man of the match awards – I have rarely seen an award given for a good series of turns, skills, and technical aspects. I hear lots of «brave, worked hard and even its… ‘s turn this week. what is the point? Again an adult idea for some strange reason not the idea of the child (beginner not tainted).

· Not commenting on kids showing off and forcing them to pass – many skills not just taking players on are lost – agility, acceleration and deceleration, movement, awareness, touch and use of both feet, use of different parts of the foot etc. by not allowing dribbling and own decisions you’re stopping the whole round athletic development of children.

The best game environments I have seen are as follows:

· Kids arrive, hand shakes with coaches.

· Changing room – random selection, age group pairing, no birth bias, let kids choose their teams, get ready together if possible for social reasons

· Little talking from coaches – apart from «have fun, be an exciting player, can you think of how to improve as you play.»

· No formational organisation – let this happen. Kids will drift into positions but know they can move anywhere on the pitch. I often hear «you be the defenders and don’t go over the half way line.» You may as well say don’t play.

· Never say things such as «do a job or work hard» it isn’t a chore it’s a fun game

· Questions are asked in intervals only – what if? How could you? If that happens what should we do? Scenario planning.

· Say nothing to them whilst playing the game. They will communicate if allowed anyway. They’ll communicate like other 7 year old kids do. In a way they understand. Saying things during play is one of the worst things any coach or parent can do adding pressure, stifling creativity and decision making and ends up panicking about results.

· Referee needed? Or just a facilitator that manages safety? The latter is fine. If we encourage honesty and fair play and set nice guidelines it works.

· Certain rules – allow dribble ins, futsal pass ins – why do we encourage throw ins with young children? Mix it up.

· Parent comments – are they encouraging? If I’m a goalkeeper and I stop a certain goal scoring opportunity then I have just saved it. I’m happy in myself as it was me. I already know or even pre-empted it. Why do I then need a chorus of «great save» as it probably wasn’t a great save but my own and my teams’ achievement. Debateable?

If you have 4 outfield players, rather than stating «let’s play 2 defenders, 1 midfielder and 1 striker,» ask the kids. They will come up with some wonderful concoctions and they might then go and play that way or go and follow the ball. The ball, you must remember is the real reason we play the game from a young age. This changes somewhat over time when we spend hardly any time with it at all working on tactics as we get older and play a higher level. There is absolutely nothing wrong with kids wanting the ball. There is nothing wrong with encouraging dribbling. They will lose the ball. That’s when the next player has a turn. Too many are ramming passing and getting rid of the ball down kids throats. Let’s get their techniques spot on and then worry about winning later.

I have watched 4 weeks of games of late and haven’t yet seen any child that’s played in goal come off their line yet. Why aren’t children being taught the whole game? Again the instruction from the adults isn’t that of intelligence but more aggression and the Dunkirk spirit.

At such frustration one grand dad told his grand son just to boot it up the pitch «it might as well be up there so they don’t score.»

I have also seen a rise of the wannabe match reporter. They too talk of scores, winning and so on. Gladly the team my son has begun playing for doesn’t promote this. The kids don’t know the score. They carry on playing after the game. They have the social and psychological corners catered for. They are answering questions and behaving in a nice manner. They are playing. An opposition coach stated his team had won ‘again’ 11-7 (I think). He told his player as they didn’t know of course. Then proceeded to hand out the M.O.M award to claps from parents. My sons team thankfully carried on playing with each other into one goal still smiling. Not one asked «why don’t we get a medal?» This particular game, whatever the score was full of «pass, pass, down the line,» but a goal was scored from a dribble with the player not listening. Good job he didn’t really. «we won» said the coach; the other team had shared equal playing time and taken off the two better players not concerned of the score. They changed the goalkeeper 3 times. The kids had fun. This information wasn’t taken into account by the ‘coach,’ as so many only live off the end result not the process. They don’t see the potential 16 year old.

I write this with a huge passion for developing young players. I have seen some excellent kids thrive in the last 10 years and unfortunately seen some with great potential be ruined by coaches. Coaches that aren’t really putting themselves in the kids boots.

Compare the smile to the serious pressurised face and I know which id rather see.

Premier League Match Time: Chelsea Vs Bolton

It’s Premier League match time in match 20, when Chelsea hosts Bolton, at Stamford Bridge, on Wednesday, December 29.

Chelsea’s last home game was in match week 16, when they played out a 1-1 draw against Everton. Ancelotti’s squad took the lead off a Dragba penalty, minutes before the interval. But they hadn’t reckoned with a resilient Everton who fought back gamely in the second half, to level the score through a Beckford strike on 86 minutes, to steal a point from the game.

Essien and Mikel were off-colour and Blues’ resultant loss of control in midfield gave Everton the opportunity that they grabbed with both hands. In good news for Chelsea, their back line looked more solid than it had been for weeks, with John Terry reporting back for duty. With Lampard also back, Chelsea could be at full strength against Bolton. Chelsea are clearly not able to trust their young bench, and that was evident against the Toffees who have stayed unbeaten against the Stamford Bridge squad for four games in a row. That said, Ancelotti’s men will welcome the return of Drogba to goal scoring ways.

Bolton’s last away match against Sunderland in match week 18 ended in a 1-0 loss for the Trotters. The score-line does not tell the entire story and if Bolton had converted all their opportunities, they should have taken three points from the game. Where the Wanderers failed was in defence with Sunderland’s three-pronged attack comprising Bent Wellbeck and Gyan causing confusion as to their intent, though to Bolton’s comfort, they often nullified each other.

But Bolton did appear the more well-rounded side and as so often happens, the better side lost when Wellbeck scored the solitary goal of the game, for the Black Cats.

Head to head, Chelsea have established a 13-1 advantage against Bolton in the last 20 meetings between the sides. the last time the sides met was at Stamford Bridge, and the hosts won 1-0 on the occasion.

Currently in fourth place on the table after having spent the best part of the the season as top dog, Chelsea have enjoyed a good home record this season, with six wins in eight gams hosted with a draw and a loss each in the remaining matches. In contrast, Bolton in a respectable seventh place, have lost three games of nine on the road, while winning two and drawing four.

With Lampard’s return, Chelsea will have a point to prove, and you can expect the Stamford Bridge side to throw the kitchen sink at Bolton in an attempt to take three points from the game on Wednesday.

Chelsea’s starting eleven against Tottenham in match week 17 had the following players: Cech, Ferreira, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Mikel, Essien, Kalou, Anelka and Malouda. Drogba, Sturridge and Lampard played in the game as substitutes.

Bolton had the following men in their starting eleven in the match against Sunderland in match week 18: Jaaskelainen, Ricketts, Cahill, Knight, Robinson, Taylor, Holden, Muamba, Petrov, Elmander and Davies.

Learn Football Skills to Play Like Pele

Football is an entertaining game. It is one of the most played and popular games along the length and breadth of the world. Some basic skills are required to play football. The star players of this game are known for their accomplished skill that sets them apart from run of the mills. It takes dodged determination, extensive practice and intensive training to bend it like Beckham! If you are keen on making football your career, you must take your basic skill a few notches ahead in order to shine.

What are those fundamental football skills that we are talking about? Let us find out.

Running: A good pace and presence of mind are a must for anyone wishing to be a good footballer. Whether you want to be a defender, midfielder or a scorer, good running gives an extra edge to your skill. Even the goalkeeper needs flexibility of body and skill of quick running to stop a powerful shot.

Passing: It is another important fundamental skill, especially for the quarterback. They also need some other skills such as good dribbling, body control, ball handling and solid arm strength. In case of passing, accuracy is more important than arm strength. You should acquire skill in order to manage the field as well as control the game. When it comes to passing, focus is also very important as the opponents’ defense will try to snatch the ball away while someone is making his way through the last quarter of the pitch. For a single pass, you have only one chance to complete it and must have several skills to succeed in your attempt most of the time.

Catching: The shot-stopper is allowed to catch the ball by using any part of the body. However, others should have skill of catching the ball on ground as well as in aerial fight. Whoever wants to catch the ball must be every fast and focused. Flexibility of body is also a must to catch the ball at the right time to prevent any assault on one’s net.

Tackling: This skill is usually required by the players in the defensive front. A low center of gravity is a requirement for every blocker as it helps the player control their balance while blocking to avoid tripping forward. Tackling or blocking requires strong physical ability and tremendous pace. It is the most physical aspect of football. Three qualities are a must for the blockers – strength, speed and suppleness. They stop the opponents’ frontmen from advancing with the ball into the box.

Conclusion

Every skill is important as football is a team game though individual’s brilliance also counts. Every professional player has one or many football skills, depending on the position he plays at. In this ball game, change in position is very important and so the players are required to acquire several skills to put to good use in different positions.

The next time when you will watch a rousing match, you will be able to learn more about the skills required to make it top on the professional level.

Are You Looking for Sports Jerseys at the Right Place?

Are you a soccer fan? Or a cricket fan? Or does your heart beat for your favorite rugby team? No matter which team game you are a fan of – you would invariably end up acknowledging the fact that your favorite team’s jerseys mean a lot to you. Respective team jerseys do undergo some change or the other over the period of time. However, there are some elements that don’t change ever. For instance, Team India is forever «Team Blue» irrespective of how many design changes its jersey has undergone with the passage of time.

Team Jerseys: What they Mean to Players, Manufacturers and Fans

As a fan, your favorite team’s jersey means a lot to you. For you the jersey is the symbol of your favorite team. It’s the same for the players as well. The Sports Team Uniforms Exporters – as such – end up taking a lot of care when it comes to crafting these jerseys as well. The teams give a lot of thought into the whole process of designing jerseys.

One of the most important attributes prioritized in this regard is comfort. The best manufacturers out there ensure that they are using nothing but super-comfortable polyester to craft sports jerseys, shorts and full-pants. The size of the uniform thus delivered – also plays a major role in determining on-field comfort. You can well imagine what happens to your favorite batsman if he keeps on adjusting his pants every time – simply because it doesn’ fit him properly-or for that matter – what happens to your favorite baseball player if he constantly found adjusting his jersey!

The wrong fit often takes the focus away from the game thereby affecting the overall performance.

How should you find the manufacturers of sports uniforms?

The cost remains another major determinant of the choice of the manufacturer as well. Yes. Are you looking for American Football Uniform Manufacturers? You might as well be thinking that the best bet is to settle for a company which offers jerseys at the lowest possible prices! You can jolly well compare the price tags online in minutes.

However, let us tell you that you would eventually end up committing a major mistake because you have to understand the fact that the best raw materials employed for sports jerseys do not really come cheap. As such, it is logically not possible for manufacturers employing the best quality raw material to offer products at the cheapest of prices. It is so important on your end to make sure you are actually aiming for the right balance of cost and quality. We are not really saying that just because the best raw materials don’t come cheap, they will actually end up costing you a fortune. It’s not that!

If you are willing to carry out in-depth research, you will always be able to find a credentialed manufacturer offering sports jerseys online within competitive price brackets. Do ensure that you are keeping these points in view without fail.

Hopefully, this primer will help you make an informed decision in this regard.

6-a-Side Football Tactics

While most 6-a-side football games are generally won by the team with the highest fitness levels (because they can chase the ball more and track back into defense a lot quicker) and the team with the best football skills (since they can dribble round opponents better and pass the ball more sharply), tactics can play a huge part in determining the outcome. Improving your tactics is one of the best ways to upset the odds, and is the best way to improve your chances of winning if you’re the clear underdogs.

In a game where both teams’ ability is identical, the more tactically astute team will always win. That being said, it is no good simply knowing about tactics if you can’t (and don’t know how to) implement them.

Since you are only playing with 5 men (plus one goalie), the best tactics that I have found (through several years of playing 6-a-side football) are to play a 2-1-2 formation. That means that you have 2 men in defence (that rarely, if ever stray from their positions), 1 man in midfield (who links the play whilst providing support for the attack and cover for the defence) and 2 strikers up front.

The strikers also play a very important part in defending, since they must ‘defend from the front’. This means that whenever the opposing team’s backline has the ball they need to putting them under pressure so that they have no time or space to pick a pass to one of their attackers.

Personal Life of Football Stars

Raúl González

Raúl grew up in a modest neighbourhood of Madrid, in the suburb Marconi de San Cristóbal de los Ángeles. His father, don Pedro, was a fan of Atlético Madrid, the club where he started playing after a short period in San Cristóbal’s team. Atletico Madrid coach didn’t notice anything special about him because he was very thin and weak. Raul later turned to Real Madrid’s C team and quickly made it to the first team in 1994/1995 season. Raúl possesses a distinctive celebration, with each goal acclaimed by a kiss of his wedding ring, an acknowledgement to his wife Mamen Sanz. They have four sons: Jorge (February 25, 2000), who is named after Jorge Valdano, Hugo (November 20, 2002) and twins Héctor and Mateo (November 17, 2005). He likes reading, especially the books of Arturo Pérez Reverte, and listening to all sorts of Spanish music. He also enjoys hunting and watching bullfighting.

Luís Nazário de Lima ‘Ronaldo’

Ronaldo was born in Bento Ribeiro, a neighbourhood in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Like many of his contemporaries, he began to play football in the streets of his neighbourhood.
In April 1999, Ronaldo married Milene Domingues. The marriage lasted four years and ended in divorce. The couple had a son, Ronald (born 2000). In 2005 he got engaged and married Brazilian model and MTV VJ Daniella Cicarelli, who became pregnant but suffered a miscarriage, their relationship lasted only 3 months. He is currently dating brazilian model Raica Oliveira. Besides being of interest to tabloid journalists, Ronaldo’s relationships with women apparently have a deep effect on his performances on the pitch. A soccernet.com article by Andrew Downie assessing Ronaldo’s fitness ahead of the 2006 World Cup pointed out a correlation between the striker’s form and the happiness of his love life, noting that his most prolific periods of goalscoring have coincided with the times when he was happily married In 2005 Ronaldo became co-owner of A1 Team Brazil, alongside Brazilian motorsports legend Emerson Fittipaldi. The team participates in the newly launched A1 Grand Prix series, with Nelson Piquet, Jr., Tony Kanaan and João Paulo Oliveira as drivers.

It is rumored that Ronaldo is considering leaving Real Madrid, expressing discomfort with their fans at the stadium. He has been linked with a return to former club F.C Internazionale, where he has often spoke of his desire to one day return. AC Milan could also show some interest in his name, especially after Andriy Shevchenko has left for Chelsea F.C.
Major League Soccer has also expressed interest in signing him. According to reports, Ronaldo turned down a ten-year, $120 million contract from the New York Red Bulls of MLS, saying

Right now I have a contract with Real Madrid and I’m only thinking about the World Cup, but without a doubt, the American market is one of my goals for the future.

(It was reported on ESPN during the broadcast of the Brazil-Croatia match on June 13 that the Red Bulls actually denied making Ronaldo an offer.)

Michael Ballack

Ballack is 6′ 2 ½» (189 cm) tall and weighs 179 lbs (80 kg). He and his girlfriend Simone have three children – Louis, Emilio and Jordi.

Ronaldo de Assis Moreira ‘Ronaldinho Gaúcho’

Ronaldinho was born on March 21, 1980 in Vila Nova, a poor suburb of Porto Alegre, Brazil. He was the youngest of three children. Ronaldinho’s mother Miguelina is a former salesperson who later studied to become a nurse. His father João was a shipyard worker and amateur footballer for Cruzeiro. The family moved to a more affluent district of Porto Alegre when Ronaldinho’s older brother Roberto signed to play professional football for Grêmio. João died when Ronaldinho was 8, after suffering a heart attack while swimming in the family’s pool. Injuries ended Roberto’s career prematurely, and he now manages Ronaldinho. Ronaldinho’s sister Deisi works as his press coordinator. Ronaldinho’s son, named João after his father, was born on 25 February, 2005. João’s mother is Janaína Nattielle Viana Mendes, a former dancer on the Brazilian television show Domingão do Faustão.

In his childhood, Ronaldinho’s skill in football began to blossom due to his particular interest in futsal and beach football, which later developed into a fondness for more standardised football. His first brush with the media came after a 23 goal flurry against a local team, at just 13 years of age. His reputation as a footballer was built up through his childhood, particularly since he was a prolific goalscorer in the Egypt 1997 under-17 world championship. His stylish play at the tournament also caught the eye of many. He is a huge fan of Brazilian music, and occasionally plays the drums and sings with friends in Barcelona.

David Beckham

In 1997, Beckham started dating the Spice Girl Victoria Adams and their relationship attracted a great deal of media interest.
He married Adams at Luttrellstown Castle, Ireland on 4 July 1999. The wedding attracted tremendous media coverage. Beckham’s teammate Gary Neville was the best man, and the couple’s son Brooklyn was the ring bearer. The media were kept away from the ceremony as the Beckhams had an exclusive deal with OK! Magazine, but newspapers were still able to obtain photographs showing them sitting on golden thrones. 437 staff were employed for the wedding reception, which was estimated to have cost £500,000.
The Beckhams have three sons: Brooklyn Joseph Beckham (born 4 March 1999), Romeo James Beckham (1 September 2002) and Cruz David Beckham (20 February 2005).

Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite ‘Kaká’

Kaká married Caroline Celico on 23 December 2005 in São Paulo, Brazil. The wedding was attended by fellow players from his national team, as well as other well known international players. Guests included Ronaldo, Adriano, Cafu, Dida, Júlio Baptista and Brazilian national coach Carlos Alberto Parreira. Kaká first met Celico in 2002, and they started dating soon after. The relationship survived Kaká’s move from São Paulo to Italy in 2003, while she was still at school. It is likely that Celico will stay in Brazil in the short-run, but the couple plan to live together in Italy soon. Against the stereotypical trend of football stars, Kaká is proud he was a virgin when he married. Celico’s mother, Rosangela Lyra, is the director of Dior in Brazil.

Zinedine Yazid Zidane

His wife, Veronique, is a former dancer and model of French-Spanish ancestry. They married in 1993 and have four sons named Enzo, Luca, Théo and Elyaz.

Football betting has proved to be an affair that can help make lives better since it provides many with the chance to make some real cash as they continue enjoying the sport. The betting is not however as cheap and easy as it seems since it can cost one a lot especially when wrong decision or decision that are not well thought out are made.

This is a process that needs good calculations especially for the football fans that are looking to make money besides enjoying the matches. Wrong betting can be very disappointing and can actually leave one in financial woes especially when he or she had placed huge amounts of money in a bet that went contrary to the expectations.

This makes it very important to consider all essential facts about the match that you are about to place a bet on every single time. Early analyzation is also helpful since it ensures that no detail about the matches is left out and the fan is of course in a better position to make sound decisions.

Always ensure that you find a reliable betting site and one that has a good reputation to it. This is because fraudsters take part in almost everything and when you settle for any site you might end up losing your money in a bet that never was. A good site should be reasonable enough and should make available safe and convenient ways of making any deposits of withdrawals. Always remember that online transactions can be very risky.

When making the football bets, always make bets that are reasonable in relation with the football odds. This will ensure that you make bets that won’t hurt much even when the expected results are not achieved. It is not very advisable to place large amounts of money especially in cases where the odds don’t seem to be giving a very clear line on which line to follow in the betting.

Also, take the time to know the strong team players and what their absence in the matches could mean to the team and the results in general. Past matches can also be considered and how prepared the teams are in relation to the time they have had to relax since their last matches.

Arsenal Transfer News – Does Arsenal Have As Much Money As They Claim?

I have decided to write this little in the pretext to highlight the significance of the financial problems faced by Arsenal and had subsequently affect the team’s performance.

Point: Arsenal’s board lead by Peter Hill-Wood and Co has not kept their promise to hand Wenger and the fans the supposed budget to buy players.

30/08/2008: Hill-Wood says Arsenal have plenty of money to spend and that Wenger’s critics should stop telling the Frenchman how to do his job. He said: Everyone tells Arsene how he ought to run the place but no-one is a better judge than him. We have plenty of money and enough to spend.

19/12/08: Arsenal’s Board have made it clear that funds are available should he wish to spend them next month. Indeed, some reports have suggested that Wenger has been urged to splash the cash by the Club’s hierarchy. At his pre-match press conference, the manager reiterated that HE has the final decision over potential reinforcements. «They [the Board] let me do what I want to do,» said Wenger. «I know how much money I can spend and I will try to do it in a wise way.»

23/12/08: Arsène Wenger admits he is more likely to enter the transfer market next month in the wake of Cesc Fabregas’ knee injury. «Yes [I am more likely to buy], but we also have internal solutions so we are not desperate because of that,» said Wenger.

02/01/09: Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood admits manager Arsene Wenger has a limited budget for the January market. «I don’t think there is a lot of money anywhere,» Hill-Wood said in the papers. «One has got to look ahead – in the future there is probably not going to be much more money coming in.

04/01/09: The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is on a collision course with his higher-ups over the modest transfer budget he has been given this winter. The Frenchman is eager to sign Andrei Arshavin, but Zenit St Petersburg are demanding in excess of 20 million Euros for their star forward – a figure the Gunners have thus far been unable to match.

The North London club have always maintained that they will back Wenger to the hilt in the transfer market, although that claim has rarely been tested due to the gaffer’s low-budget, youth-oriented approach. But now that the ex-Monaco boss has set his sights on a big-money target, the Emirates board are unwilling to free up the funds required to seal the deal. This is is not the first report of friction between Wenger and his bosses to emerge this season. Indeed, it is has been whispered that the 59-year-old could break his contract with Arsenal to join Real Madrid next summer. That remains the remotest of remote possibilities, but if the Gunners fail to secure Champions League qualification this term – they currently sit fifth in the Premier League table – their long-serving manager could consider his options.

May we know where are the 50 million pounds that the board has promised us? Where are the support that was supposedly promised to Wenger, now that we want a player?
