Korea Republic v Germany | 2018 FIFA World Cup | Match Highlights

Korea Republic’s historic 2-0 win over Germany in Kazan may not have been enough for the Taeguk Warriors to progress to the Round of 16 from Group F, but it will nevertheless go down as a result for the ages as the reigning champions were also eliminated from the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ at the first hurdle.

  1. The whole world was not surprised because it was not the first time German was defeated on Russian soil 4 years after their glorious victory over France ?? ?
    1940 ?? -1944 ??
    2014 ??-2018 ?? ???

  2. Ozil was magnificent this game, but every other German player was so flat footed and out of it. At 1:09, you have 4 German defenders just watching this South Korean donnie take his time with a first touch and a finish past Neuer and none of them do anything.

  3. South Korea Kim and Son were glorious players in 2018 fifa and 2002 was the most popular fifa event; the miracle of the Hyundai company supported red evil soccer player and gave a lot of fellow citzens of Korea ?? dream , hope to work out. 꿈☆이루어진다 오 필승 코리아 Crying Nut Hard Rock Music was wonderful around the world with Yoon Do Hyun band

  4. For those of you who don't understand what Neuer was thinking, he actually made the right decision under the circumstances. When teams are losing and it doesn't matter by how much, it's common for them to send up the goalkeeper as an extra attacking player in an "Everything to gain and nothing to lose" situation.

Granted, it's much more rare in group stage games since goal differential actually matters there, but since this was the last group stage game, it didn't matter if Germany lost by 1 goal, 5 goals, or any other amount. If they lost at all, they were guaranteed to get knocked out. Neuer knew they had to at least draw to have any hope of getting into the last 16, so he moved off the line.

Usually this tactic doesn't work for two reasons:
    1. Goalkeepers usually become goalkeepers because they don't perform well as outfield players. Neuer is a special case because he started his career as a midfielder before moving into the goalkeeper position, but it isn't hard to imagine that he's less effective as an outfield player than as a shot stopper.
    2. Having one extra man isn't decisive enough to seal a significant advantage. Just look at all the teams that won or at least drew while having 10 players, often because someone from their side got sent off.

But once again, when you have to score to avoid a certain knockout, it's a strategy worth trying. So no, it didn't backfire. He lost the ball and South Korea scored again, but that second goal really didn't matter to them as they would've been eliminated anyway.
