Okocha was accused of too much dribbling ?and was always on the bench didn't solidify his spot in the team until the 1994 round of 16 against Italy where he recorded the most successful dribble ever by a single player in a world cup match.i miss watching okocha I no go lie.
They won Olympic gold
They were the team to use in video games
Spectacular golden age.
I can't forget.
Oliseh, Okocha, Amokachi, Babangida, George, Babayaro, Kanu…this was my favorite team to play in the old games like ISS Pro and PES later on on the PS1 :D. What a great team that was.
Man.. i remember this team. I am a fan of Nigeria's football since them (WC 94) when i was 10 years old. Sad that they don't keep this level.
This is not just the best Nigerian football generation till date but the best African generation of all time. No disrespect to the Cameroon class of 1990.
Many may say am saying this because am Nigerian but that's not the issue here. These guys commanded and aura where ever they played on the planet and they practically opened the flood gates of an African exodus of football talent to the rest to the world (you can't talk about fellow African's like Asamoah Gyan, Mo salah, Didier Drogba or Mane etc. without a link to this 94 generation). Besides being a well represented team they raised many eyebrows putting African football on the map, giving respect to the African game that was previously seen as the perennial whooping boys.
So you can say what the Roger Milla generation Cameroon couldn't attain they went beyond simply world cup tongue twisters and shot for the stars. They built up international response to the African game beyond 1994.
Absolutely classy that's what the Nigerian Golden Age represents.
Nigeria 2nd golden generation was 1994 to 2004.
RIP Rashidi Yekini ?
This team still gives goosebumps lol Hopefully we can get to this standard again.
times when football was still football
One of the best team in African history they qualified to round 16 in world cup 1994 and 1998
It is time for Nigeria to reach the world Cup Quarter final
Wow! This is a memory. I was in secondary school that year we played Italy in USA '94. I still remembered it just like yesterday. I could not eat my food that night. It was just like the whole house lost someone. It took me some weeks before I could get over the shock because we are already celebrating our qualifications to the quarter-finals. Sooooo painful! But all is history now. Let the next generation learn from this.
Beautiful generation!!! Great and talented guys that changed the idea of the game play status back then!! Being Mexican, I always enjoyed and supported this crazy players with their revolutionary creativity to take the Ball and Respect it… Missing this African talents
Baggio destroyed Nigeria single handedly 🙂 bye bye Nigeria
It was avery very ammazing generation
I hope I'll play for Nigeria ???
??
Arguably the 2 most talented players in the '94 and '98 squads were Emmanuel Amunike and Findi George
Mate if Yekini was one of the best in the world he would have played in the bigger club and not in Olympiakos as a highlight of his career..
???
RIP Rasheed Yekini, Stephen Keshi and goalkeeper Wilfred ???
This is the greatest team ever assembled by any Afrikan team and by right we were suppose to win this world cup 94. Though I was very young but I remember this tournament vividly and when we were knocked out of the quarter finals I was crushed couldn't eat and cried about a week.
Why Nigeria always has the freshest jerseys?? ????
I loved the super eagles from then till today.
They were the Brazil of Africa. If i were to describe everything about that team then i would need to write a book. Jay Jay Okocha would have a chapter of his own
That's the reality during those years the guys were covered up by pride Not money. All pledges n allegiance were directed towards their nation, people, n continent n not again money n myself.
Multiple blessing
Tijani babangida speed 97 ?
Una selección maravillosa
Nigeria of the 90s is the best african football team ever…
In my opinion Nigeria '94 were the best African team to ever participate in the world cup. Even though they never made it to the quarter finals like Cameroon, Senegal or Ghana their game was far superior. Pele wasn't wrong when predicting that Brazil would play against Nigeria in the final match of USA '94.
That Nigerian team made ma love football
Can we make this great country better again?
The Super Eagles??
The best ever
I remember Sunday Oliseh and that shot! I screamed with unbelievable joy. The best match Nigeria has ever played. What a comeback! ❤️ Next world cup, we will carry the cup. My prediction.
As a moroccan following the african football for decades now..I am very disappointed of little progress, at the world stage, made by the african football since then..this DREAM TEAM was the pride of all african nations..we miss u dearly
There was a generation.
I remember us beating them by 4-1 and did not get a very good impression, they were arrogant and very confident that the Danes were just amateurs to be beaten, some even laughed when asked about Denmark. Also it seemed to me that some thought they were doing the nation a favor instead of just being honored about being chosen, never felt more satisfaction as we sent Nigeria home. A bit of humility goes a long way to get acceptance.
Sadly didn't seen them play, born in 96
One day. I know I'll represent this country Nigeria. So help me.God
