36. My sister once saved my life by just being near me in a lake. I had gone under, was coming up and the water surface tension that day was weird, my head and shoulders were out of the water but the water stayed wrapped around my head in a thin layer, thinking I was well above the surface I breathed and sucked in that water layer over my face and was instantly in bad trouble, she was floating on a standard cheap float and I snatched it, threw my body on it as my diaphragm convulsed beyond my control and I realized why/how the strongest swimmers drown. Once you breath in water your body goes on autopilot and forces these insane gasps for air automatically that you can't stop even if you wanted, I just laid there on the float gasping and coughing and puking for a long time. Had she not been right w me w that float I have no doubt Id have died at age 13.
