  5. Rising to the pressure of something with world cup level stakes in an individual sport is more worthy of acknowledgment than a team sport in my opinion. Messi set up Higuain and other teammates for a goal many times in his world cup final. If a fantastic player is on a mediocre team then you can't down them for not winning a title single handedly ( I know it's been done however), and I know Messi has choked on his own in the past. And Argentina isn't too bad of a squad at all. Messi's my goat for sure:)

  11. Messi is one of the best ever for sure, maybe the best overall. But great? No. Greatness happens in the intangibles. Leadership, mentality in tough situations. Seeking challenges and overcoming them. Messi isn‘t very great, just extremely good.

  20. I’m a Ronaldo stan but I’ve recently come around to the fact that Messi might be the greatest player ever…. but one thing he isn’t is clutch. On the biggest stage he doesn’t excel. Cant make excuses for that.

  24. My friends who don’t know shit about the sport this I hate Ronaldo because I vouch for Messi, but here’s the thing: there’s no shame in being #2, because he is. The peak of Madrid, he was a target man getting support from some of the best creators on the planet. Marcelo, Carvajal, Modric, Kroos, James, Isco, bale, Benz, all got the ball to him to finish most of the chances. Not enough words I can type right now will explain what Messi does on the field.   34. Ronaldo isn't even close to Messi. Ronaldo probably isn't even top 3. Great work rate and finishing. But still not on the level of the best three ever

  40. If you watch soccer, Messi definitely is better than Ronaldo. We're seeing it now with how limited Ronaldo is compared to Messi. Ronaldo can only be in and near the final third, while Messi can start an offence from the half and sometimes even behind it. Watch some of his near assists and near misses. There is no debate for the best player in this era.
