  12. Utterly amazing that no one has commented on the fiasco with the red card. It was richly deserved. Caving to pressure from all those honchos who descended on the poor referee shows weakness and a lack of conviction. The scene was endlessly repeated. There were only two possible conclusions: Either the goalie went for the ball sincerely but didn't quite reach it which under the rules automatically means he went for the player (legs) which deserves more than a yellow card under such circumstances, i.e. red the only choice. Or
    the goalie knew he was going for the legs since he knew he couldn't reach the ball in which
    case the red card should have stood. Either way, the red card was the correct decision.
    Instead, the ref. caved under pressure and meekly ordered a free kick. What a sham.
