In the first leg of the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinal Round, the U.S. Men’s National Team earned a crucial 3-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago. In this episode of Behind The Crest, the team prepares for the game in Austin, Texas. The team celebrates Gio Reyna’s birthday in camp. And Paul Caligiuri stopped by to speak to the team about his historic goal against Trinidad & Tobago in 1989, which sent the USMNT back to the World Cup for the first time in 40 years.

In the game, goals from forward Ricardo Pepi, midfielder Gio Reyna and defender Antonee Robinson, who was involved in all three goals, secured the win. The Quarterfinal matchup also serves as a qualifier for the 2024 Copa América tournament.

  1. WISH THO DEMPSEY, DONOVAN, and TIM HOWARD was in this generation/squad! If we had them 3… well especially Dempsey and Howard… We would be a complete team and dangerous AF… (for an American team wise)… It would bee so damn rad!!!! But anyway… so happy with this team tho. And I think we have finally found our striker with Balo!!! and Pepi as an alternate… That has been our crucial missing link… thought it was going to be the Sargent kid… but he was obviously a bust national team wise.

  2. Great background music. I love that they brought in Paul, seems like an awesome guy. Not enough USMNT respect the history of the men’s game in the states. Also the editing was superb, we played like ass in the game, but this video makes it seem like we balled out lol

  3. I'm sorry but last game was absolutely disgraceful on the USA side we really need to get rid of berhalter we always ALWAYS play down to the opponent and it's horrible props to the keeper for Trinidad but omg it was bad for the USA

  4. As cheesy as it is seeing Gregg give Gio the cake on his bday, I think its a clear sign they're over the issues and can at least be cordial, professional, and cooperative moving forward. (Maybe even a little buddy buddy)
