26. The Ecuadorian one is not a ban from the world cup but a sporting disqualification based on the new results of the matches the possible ineligible player featured in. In other words, every game he would've illegitimately played would result in a 3-0 defeat for his team, hence disqualifying them. This is the reason it would result to Chile placed 7th on the table being the team to replace Ecuador and not Colombia placed 6th as the possible ineligible player didn't play against Colombia but did against Chile and other national teams.

    If let's say Brazil which placed 1st in the table did something similar with one of it's players for one game that they won on the field, it would result in a 3-0 defeat for that particular game but ultimately won't change anything as even if you strip off Brazil from those 3 points in the table they would still qualify sportively, hence not a world cup ban.
